Frequently Asked Questions
2mm, isn’t that a little thin?
No! 2mm may sound thin, but in the world of sheet metal its a good thickness for a product that will not face any stress or abrasion. For perspective, a standard steel kitchen sink is approximately 0,9 – 1mm thick. We can cut the products on a thicker material with little effect on the price but its simply not necessary and could make some of the bigger artwork a little too heavy, and more difficult to ship and mount.
Can it be used outside?
Yes! Powder coated products can withstand the elements as long as they are not damaged ie: chipped or cracked. For coastal customers placing art in areas exposed to rain and sun, you will need to opt for aluminum or stainless steel instead. If the option is not available on your desired product please contact us for a quote.
How is the wall art mounted to the wall? What does "Raised" mean?
Most wall art products are provided with Stainless Steel Standoffs with screws by default. The standoffs are powder coated black to match the art or left in their stainless steel or aluminium finish if you are opting for a white or custom colour. Due to the physical shape and form of some products, they will only be available with either double sided tape or standard wall screws, and for thin framed art nylon wall spacers.
The Stainless Steel / Aluminium Standoffs are highly recommended and will allow your art to be mounted with a gap of around 12mm to 20mm (depending on the size of the product) between the art and the wall. This will add depth and a floating effect to your metal artwork as it emphasizes the arts cut out areas. The art can then be easily removed and relocated by simply removing the standoffs. Keep in mind that the standoffs are supplied in black for black art or a stainless steel / aluminium finish for any other colour.
Some smaller products are supplied with Double Sided Tape only. These products are not suitable for standoff mounting and can be stuck to the surface with double sided tape. Any product supplied this way will have this information available on the product page. We always try to position the tape in such a way as to make it as easy as possible to remove the art without damaging it, however, Metal Wall Art will not be held responsible for any damage incurred during the mounting or dismounting of your metal art.
If you would prefer to have your artwork mounted Flat to your chosen surface or wall then please notify us immediately after placing your order so we can adjust the artwork to have smaller holes suitable for standard screws.
If you would prefer to have your artwork supplied without any holes then please notify us immediately after placing your order so we can adjust the artwork. Your art will be supplied with no mounting holes and you may place the art as desired.
Standoff Installation Method
Can you make custom art that is not listed on Metal Wall Art?
Absolutely! We have made plenty of custom items from school badges and giant city skylines to custom cars and house numbers. Simply give us a call or send us an email or WhatsApp message and if the job is not too complicated we wont even charge you a design fee!
How long before I receive my order?
Our lead-time is 10 - 15 working days & 2 - 3 working days for shipping. This is due to the fact that we manufacture most products on a per order basis.
Can I return my order?
Yes! We offer a 7-day return window starting from the date you receive your order.
- If you wish to return an item, please contact us within the 7-day period to initiate the return process.
- The item must be repackaged in the supplied packaging for safe transportation.
- We will arrange for a courier to collect the item at your convenience.
- Please note that due to the fact that customised products cannot be resold, we will not accept returns for customised products unless they were damaged or faulty upon arrival from the courier.
- Upon return, the item will be inspected for any damage.
- If the item is in the same condition as when it was sent, you will be refunded the full amount minus the cost of two courier fees (return and initial shipping).
